Cedar Hill native Nicholas Burton Reimler, 29, has pleaded guilty to violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds stemming from his actions during the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., according to court documents.

Reimler, who now lives in Valley Park in south St. Louis County, pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor on Sept. 17 in the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia.

He will be sentenced Dec. 10 and faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison, one year of supervised release and a $5,000 fine, court records show.

As part of his plea, other misdemeanor charges that had been filed against him on Feb. 19 were dismissed, according to court papers.

Reimler’s posts on social media platforms helped federal officers discover his alleged role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.

He also was recorded on surveillance video inside the Capitol, according to the charging documents released in March.

Friends alerted authorities to Reimler's posts on Snapchat and Facebook, and they identified Reimler in photos the FBI released showing people inside the Capitol, according to the documents.

He reportedly could be seen in surveillance video entering and leaving the Capitol wearing a green hat, a blue and white jacket and a white flag with the word “TRUMP” on it while holding up a cell phone. Investigators found pictures of Reimler wearing what appears to be the same jacket and hat on his Facebook page, the report said.

Reimler’s Snapchat account also allegedly had photos showing the inside of the Capitol with rioters in the hallways with text that read, “TOP OF THE US CAPITOL DOME,” and, “Lol what’s going on,” according to the charging documents.

Reimler’s Facebook page had messages posted before Jan. 6 supporting former President Donald Trump, as well as ones critical of President Joe Biden and other Democrats.

On Dec. 30, 2020, Reimler reposted a tweet from Trump that said, “JANUARY SIXTH, SEE YOU IN DC!” In the comments on that post, Reimler said he was driving to Washington, D.C., with two guys from work.

Reimler’s Facebook profile says he is a technical services manager, and that he studied civil and environmental engineering at the University of Missouri in Columbia. The profile also says he attended Northwest High School.

Reimler was listed as living in Cedar Hill in his only other public court record in Missouri, which was related to a Dec. 21, 2014, DWI charge after he reportedly was caught speeding on I-55 in Jefferson County, according to court records.
