The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is trying to identify two men who allegedly broke into Acres Metal Recycling, 5316 Hunning Road, in High Ridge and stole catalytic converters, police reported.
Acres Metal Recycling is listed as being for sale, and a number associated with the business is disconnected.
The men reportedly were seen in surveillance video at about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 7 outside the business. One of the men allegedly kicked in an office window to enter the building and then opened a door to let the other man inside, the report said.
The men initially ran away when the alarm went off but returned and grabbed between six and 10 catalytic converters before running away again. Altogether the converters were worth about $3,000, according to the report.
The suspects were last seen running south from the building, and it is unclear if they got into a vehicle out of view of the surveillance camera, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
As of Feb. 17, none of the catalytic converters had been recovered, and the men in the video had not been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the incident should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
