Arnold Police recently arrested five people at the Walmart Supercenter, 2201 Michigan Ave., in connection with the theft of an SUV in Jefferson County. Those arrested included a 31-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both of Arnold, as well as a 32-year-old Fenton man, a 24-year-old Cedar Hill woman and a 33-year-old St. Louis man, a report said.

On Sept. 21, not long after the SUV, a Ford Explorer, was stolen, Arnold Police got a call that the stolen SUV was at the Walmart store. Arnold Police officers arrived and shortly after identified the suspects, who were inside the store, Detective Lt. James Jones said.

As the suspects came out of the store, they were arrested for allegedly tampering with a motor vehicle. In addition, all the suspects except the Cedar Hill woman already were wanted on outstanding warrants, according to the report.

The 31-year-old Arnold man was wanted in Jefferson and St. Louis counties and Rock Hill; the 29-year-old Arnold woman and the 32-year-old Fenton man both were wanted in Arnold and Jefferson County; and the 33-year-old St. Louis man was wanted in St. Louis for rape, the report said.

The Cedar Hill woman was booked and released pending application for warrants. The other four suspects were booked and held for the other agencies that wanted them. Arnold Police will seek tampering charges against all of them through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Jones said.
