High Ridge firefighters helped free a 22-year-old Greenwood man who was trapped in a pickup following a one-vehicle crash early Saturday (Feb. 23). The man was hurt in the accident, but he did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, said Engineer John Barton of the High Ridge Fire Protection District.
He said High Ridge Fire got a call at 1:07 a.m. about the accident in the 5000 block of Hillsboro House Springs Road in House Springs, and firefighters arrived on the scene at 1:13 a.m. Firefighters removed the windshield from the white 2004 GMC pickup, which was resting on the passenger side in the middle of the road. Once the windshield was removed, the man was able to crawl out of the pickup, Barton said.
He said the driver was out of the vehicle within five minutes of High Ridge firefighters arriving at the scene.
Grant Bissell, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said the pavement was wet when the accident occurred.
Barton said he believes the vehicle was totaled and the driver was wearing a seat belt.
High Ridge stayed on the scene until 2:02 a.m., and the Big River Ambulance District helped with the call, transporting the driver to an area hospital.
