Peace Pantry

The Cedar Hill Fire Protection got a call on Thanksgiving (Nov. 26) that someone had spotted smoke at the Peace Pantry in Cedar Hill, but no fire was found, Battalion Chief John Griffith said.

He said someone who had driven by the Peace Pantry, 8100 Industrial Drive, thought they saw smoke and reported a possible fire.

“It was just a beautiful sunset,” Griffith said. “I guess it could have looked like glistening in the trees.”

Griffith said crews were dispatched at 4:40 p.m. to the Peace Pantry, and crews arrived at 4:45 p.m. and checked on the facility. Firefighters left the scene at 4:54 p.m.

The Peace Pantry is a nonprofit food pantry that provides emergency and long-term help to area families. The Peace Pantry also runs a thrift store.
