A fire destroyed an RV and a camper in the 13600 block of Hwy. JJ near Papin Road north of Valles Mines on March 22. No one was injured, De Soto Rural Fire Chief Tom Fitzgerald said.
He said the De Soto Rural Fire Protection District received a call about the fire at 11:02 p.m., and when firefighters arrived, the RV and camper were fully engulfed in flames. Nearby brush also was on fire.
He said no one was injured. He believes the fire started while the owner was working on the RV.
The Festus Fire Department and the Hematite, Jefferson R-7 and Big River fire protection districts assisted with the call. The Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District also responded.
