A fire that destroyed a pickup on March 28 in Barnhart is believed to have been caused by an electrical issue.
The owner of the pickup said he was having trouble with the headlights on the 1992 Ford F-150, said Battalion Chief Curtis Ehrhard of the Antonia Fire Protection District.
So, the driver pulled the pickup into a neighbor’s driveway at 2020 Donnell Drive in Barnhart.
“It was on fire when he (the owner) got out,” Ehrhard said.
Ehrhard believes the fire was caused by electrical problems.
Antonia was called at 7:31 p.m. and firefighters were on the scene by 7:38 p.m., Ehrhard said.
“When we arrived, fire was just lapping out of the grill area,” he said.
Ehrhard said the fire was under control within minutes; however the pickup was totaled.
Firefighters remained on the scene for about 45 minutes, Ehrhard said.
