A fire destroyed a camper and caused heat damage to two nearby vehicles and the siding of a house, said De Soto Rural Fire Chief Tom Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald said firefighters were called to a fire at 1:46 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in the 400 block of Woodsorrel Drive off Hwy. Y northwest of De Soto. He said a generator malfunction started the fire. The camper had been parked in the owners’ driveway and the generator was in front of the camper.
Firefighters remained on the scene for an hour and a half. No injuries were reported.
Hillsboro Fire Protection District and De Soto Fire Department assisted with the fire. Valle Ambulance District also responded. Hematite, Jefferson R-7 and High Ridge fire protection districts assisted with the district’s other calls.
