This barn off Lonedell Road west of Arnold was destroyed by fire on Wednesday.

A fire destroyed an abandoned barn in the 4400 block of Lonedell Road near the intersection of Yount Drive west of Arnold. No one was in the barn when the fire broke out, and no other buildings on the property were damaged by the blaze, the Rock Community Fire Protection District reported.

Rock Fire spokeswoman Alyson Barton said the owner called to report the fire at about 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, and firefighters arrived at the scene at approximately 2:50 p.m. She said the barn was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

The fire was under control at 3:02 p.m., and the scene was cleared at 5:55 p.m., the report said.

There also was nothing stored in the barn, Rock Fire reported.

Rock Fire and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire, but as of today, Feb. 16, it does not appear suspicious, Barton said.

The Saline Valley Fire Protection District helped with the call, and the Rock Township Ambulance District also responded to the scene.
