A cooking accident led to a fire that damaged a mobile home in the 5700 block of Sassafras Lane in Imperial. The man and woman who live at the home were not injured, the Rock Community Fire Protection District reported.
At approximately 5:20 p.m. May 5, Rock Fire got a call about the fire, which started at the stove in the kitchen, Battalion Chief Bill Flurry said.
The first firetruck arrived at 5:27 p.m., and the fire was under control in about 20 minutes, the report said.
The walls and ceiling of the home were damaged, and the home is uninhabitable. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced residents.
Flurry said the fire was ruled accidental.
The Antonia and Mehlville fire protection districts helped with the call. Rock Township Ambulance District also responded to the scene.
