This home on Wind Rose Drive in Imperial was damaged by a fire on July 4.

Four people were displaced by a fire that damaged their home on Wind Rose Drive in Imperial the night of July 4. No one was injured in the blaze, Rock Community Fire Protection District Fire Marshal Jeff DeLapp reported.

Rock Fire got a call at 10:41 p.m. about the fire that started on the roof of the home’s garage. When the first firetruck arrived at 10:48 p.m., the fire had spread from the garage roof into the home’s attic, the report said.

DeLapp said it took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control. He said the four people who lived there, along with the family’s cat and snake, got out of the home before crews arrived.

He said the cause of the fire appeared accidental, but he would not say what specifically caused it.

DeLapp said the home is uninhabitable, and the family has made other living arrangements while the house is repaired. The blaze melted the siding on the homes on each side of the house that caught fire, according to the report.

The Antonia, Dunklin and Saline Valley fire protection districts helped with the call. Rock Township Ambulance also responded to the scene.
