Fire heavily damaged a house just west of De Soto on Monday morning, Dec. 1, De Soto Rural Fire Chief Tom Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald said firefighters were dispatched to the 5800 block of Hwy. Y at 10:05 a.m. When firefighters arrived, fire was coming from two windows at the rear of the house.
He said no injuries were reported, but two adults were displaced as a result of the fire. He said the fire was caused by a space heater.
De Soto Fire Department and Hillsboro and Hematite fire protection districts assisted with the fire. Valle Ambulance District also responded. St. Clair, Jefferson R-7 and Big River fire protection districts assisted with other calls.
