Mobile home fire displaces Imperial woman

A fire damaged a mobile home on Woodland Lane in Imperial.

Firefighters quickly got a March 6 mobile home fire in Imperial under control, but it did enough damage to at least temporarily displace the woman who lives there, Saline Valley Fire Marshal Ryan Lesh said.

He said the district received a call about 2:35 p.m. about a fire in the 4000 block of Woodland Lane.

“It was pretty quick,” Lesh said of firefighters gaining control of the flames. “Firefighters reported a working fire with flames at the roof line above the front door of the structure.

“There was not much damage, pretty much just above the front door. The electric was turned off. It will need to be repaired (before she can move back in).”

The woman and her two dogs got out safely, Lesh said, and no injuries were reported.

“She is displaced right now,” he said. “The Red Cross is helping her.”

He said no cause of the fire has been determined as of March 7.

“(Saline Valley) completed a cause and origin investigation into the fire and it was deemed accidental,” he said.

Firefighters remained at the scene until 4:08 p.m.

Lesh said the incident underscored the need for people to have operational smoke detectors.

“This is the second house fire in the Saline Valley Fire District in the past two months where the occupants have been alerted to the fire by working smoke detectors,” he said.

Antonia Fire Protection District assisted with the fire. Rock Township Ambulance and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.
