A fire damaged a home at 158 Flint Drive in unincorporated Fenton, displacing the occupants. The two people who were home at the time and a family pet got out of the house safely before firefighters arrived, Saline Valley Assistant Fire Chief Chris Harris said.
The Saline Valley Fire Protection District got a call at 12:31 p.m. Feb. 18 about the fire, and firefighters arrived on the scene in about six minutes, he said.
“It was under control at 1:31 p.m.,” Harris said. “It was heavy smoke and fire throughout the house when we arrived. The house was heavily damaged.”
He said Monday, Feb. 20, that a cause of the fire had not been determined, but it was not considered suspicious.
“The fire was throughout the house, so it was hard to determine where it started. Maybe in a bathroom," Harris said.
The couple must seek other housing until repairs are completed, he said.
“They are working with the Red Cross,” Harris said.
Firefighters remained on the scene until approximately 3:05 p.m., he said.
The Rock Community, High Ridge and Fenton fire protection districts helped with the call, and the Rock Township Ambulance District responded to the scene, Harris said.
