The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating damage to AT&T fiber optic cable near the intersection of Victoria Road and Hwy. 67 southwest of Festus. It appeared someone caused about $2,000 in damage to the cable, but it was not stolen, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
An alarm company contacted the Sheriff’s Office at 11:57 p.m. June 20 and reported that its system detected an attempted theft of the cable, the report said.
