Festus Police are investigating a reported burglary at a home in the 800 block of North Mill Street on Sunday (Jan. 31).

The victim said at first, she thought her daughter had entered her house and left, but later realized that the home had been broken into, Chief Tim Lewis said

“At about 2:30 a.m. Jan. 31, the victim heard someone in the back of the house and thought it was her daughter,” Lewis said. “A minute later, she heard the door close and saw a gold four-door car speed away. At that point, she didn’t know if it was her daughter or not.

“She talked to her daughter later, who said it was not her. She (the victim) noticed some items missing.”

Lewis said Tuesday (Feb. 2) that the victim, 41, was still trying to establish what was taken.

“She noticed some missing items – costume jewelry,” he said. “That’s all she’s found so far. Someone may have come in and grabbed something and left.”

Anyone with information is urged to call the Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
