A 34-year-old De Soto man was arrested in connection with the theft of a car from a St. Louis auto dealership. The man was arrested after the stolen car, a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta, was recovered in Festus, said Tim Lewis, chief of the Festus Police Department.

He said the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department asked Festus Police officers to check out a location in Festus where the Jetta reportedly was parked.

“At about 6 a.m. Aug. 25, our officers went to the 1000 block of North Fourth Street and found the stolen vehicle parked in front of a house,” Lewis said.

He said the De Soto man also was at the house and was arrested and turned over to St. Louis Police.

Lewis said the Jetta had been reported stolen from the Don Brown dealership on Kingshighway Boulevard in south St. Louis.

He said the car, which was valued at $20,000, did not appear damaged.
