Festus Police are seeking a man who took a cab ride to town from Imperial and skipped out on paying the driver the $40 fare for the trip early Tuesday (Sept. 13).
“The suspect didn’t pay for the cab ride,” Police Chief Tim Lewis said. “The victim said he picked up a man in Imperial about 12:45 a.m. and took him to the Festus Garden Apartments (on Briar Ridge). The suspect told him he’d have to go in and get the money from his mother.”
After waiting for a time, the driver called police at 1:45 a.m. to report the theft.
“(The suspect) walked away and never came back,” Lewis said. “He supposedly left to go get the money.”
The suspect is a man in his late 20s to early 30s.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Festus Police at d636-937-3646.
