Festus Police are investigating three recent residential burglaries that happened over the past two weeks.
The first incident reportedly occurred overnight between Nov. 21 and 9:52 a.m. Nov. 22 in the 100 block of Dublin Lane, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
“The victim said she left her residence the night of Nov. 21 and when she came back the next morning, she saw the front door open and called police,” Lewis said. “Police arrived and found no one there. It looked like the door jamb was damaged. The apartment had been ransacked.”
The victim reported several electronics, including televisions and laptop computers, had been taken, Lewis said.
He said the stolen items were worth about $1,000.
The second incident occurred between the evening of Nov. 27 and 10 a.m. Nov. 28 in the 700 block of Delmar Avenue, the victim told police.
“A woman was moving from one apartment to another in a different apartment complex,” Lewis said. “When they went back (to the old apartment) in the morning, they noticed the apartment had been broken into. Her possessions that had been packed were opened and gone through.”
He said the victim reported medical equipment, a rifle and alcohol had been taken and overall, the items were valued around $400.
He would not say what kind of rifle was stolen.
The third incident reportedly occurred between 2:45 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. Nov. 29 in the 1500 block of Robert Thompson Drive, Lewis said.
“The victim left home around 2:45 p.m. When he returned, he found his front door open. He said a pistol, money and electronics had been taken,” Lewis said.
He said the estimated value of the stolen items is around $1,000.
He would not say what kind of pistol was stolen.
“The burglaries do not necessarily appear connected,” Lewis said.
He said Tuesday (Dec. 2) the investigation was ongoing.
