Festus Police patch

Festus Police are investigating several burglaries in Ashford Place subdivision over the past several weeks. In one of those cases, the victim is offering a $1,000 reward for the return of a homemade computer or information leading to its recovery.

Since June, there have been four burglaries in the subdivision, which is in the southern part of Festus – one on June 9 on Glenkee Court; another on July 19 on Ashford Place; one that happened between July 20 and July 22 on Ashford Place; and the fourth on Aug. 16 on Ashford Place, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

He said the culprits forced entry into all four of the homes.

One of the victims, Matthew Primo, has offered a $1,000 reward for the return of a computer that was stolen from his home on Aug. 16.

Primo said he and his older son built the computer.

He said Aug. 24 that no one had come forward with any information.

“No responses yet,” Primo said.

He said the burglary at his home occurred about 4 a.m. while he, his wife and two sons were sleeping.

The family’s dog, a blue heeler, woke one of his sons, alerting him to the home invasion, Primo said.

“When whoever walked into my older son’s room, where our dog was sleeping, the dog started barking,” Primo said. “My son woke up and walked out with a gun. He got a glimpse (of the intruder).”

Primo said there may have been more than one person in the home, and they fled from the house after the dog began barking.

“My son and I checked to make sure no other people were there,” he said.

Primo said the burglars got away with an estimated $9,100 worth of items. In addition to the gun, stolen items included several guns, credit cards, cash and keys to a business he owns in Festus

“We had to re-key my building,” he said.

As of Tuesday (Aug. 28), no items had been recovered and no arrests had been made, Lewis said. Anyone with information is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
