Festus Police are investigating a burglary at a home in the 1100 block of Ann Street that happened while the victim was away at work. The burglary occurred Dec. 9, Chief Tim Lewis said.
“The victim, 31-year-old man, left for work at 8:30 a.m. and when he returned home at 7:30 p.m., he found the front door forced open,” Lewis said. “He found he was missing a rifle and a pistol.”
Together, the items were valued at $1,000, Lewis said.
He said officers canvassed the neighborhood and had a witness give a description of “a suspicious person” in the area.
“This is not a suspect at this time,” Lewis said. “The description is a white male in his mid-20s wearing a red ball cap, blue jeans and a gray and white shirt.
