Arnold Police are investigating the theft of a motorcycle that was stolen outside of Walmart, 2201 Michigan Ave. A 35-year-old Festus man met another man in the store’s parking lot after agreeing to sell the other man a 2017 BMW S 1000 RR, police reported.

The victim reported the theft on Sept. 15. He told officers he met the other man on Sept. 6 after arranging a sale through Facebook Marketplace and was given a $14,000 check for the motorcycle, the report said.

The victim said days after depositing the check, he was informed by his bank that the check was fraudulent. The check was from a St. Louis business account, according to the report.

As of Sept. 25, the motorcycle had not been recovered, and no one had been arrested, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said. He asks anyone with information about the stolen motorcycle to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
