Timothy Edward Worley, 48, of Festus, a persistent drug offender, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for possession of methamphetamine, according to court documents.
Worley pleaded guilty to felony possession of a controlled substance, and on Nov. 13, Jefferson County Div. 4 Circuit Judge Mark T. Stoll sentenced him to 12 years in prison for the offense. In addition, Stoll executed a seven-year prison term Worley previously was sentenced to since he had violated his probation stemming from that conviction.
Those prison terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time. Worley could be released early if he successfully completes a 24-month treatment program, court records indicate.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Steven W. Jerrell handled the case.
On June 30, 2018, a Jefferson County deputy spotted Worley throwing a clear plastic container into the woods along Hwy. 61-67 in Sulphur Springs as authorities approached him. Authorities located the container, which was filled with white crystals, a probable-cause statement said.
The substance tested positive for meth, the report said.
The seven-year prison term Stoll executed was for a felony drug possession conviction against Worley tied to a January 2014 incident in Jefferson County, court papers show.
Those 12-year and seven-year terms also are being served concurrent with an earlier seven-year term and four-year term Worley previously was sentenced to. Both of those convictions were for possession of chemicals with the intent to manufacture, and the seven-year term stemmed from an October 2005 incident in Jefferson County and the four-year term was connected to a February 2009 incident in St. Francois County, court papers show.
Worley currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
