A 35-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, both of Festus, were arrested after they allegedly were seen trying to remove a motorcycle from a ditch in the 9700 block of Goldman Road northeast of Hillsboro. The motorcycle was wrapped in caution tape and was part of a Missouri State Highway Patrol’s investigation into an accident, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies were called to the area at about 5:30 p.m. Sept. 22, and when the first deputy arrived, he allegedly saw the pair trying to remove the 1977 Honda motorcycle from the ditch and load it into an SUV, the report said.
The man and woman were arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where they were booked and released pending the application for charges, according to the report.
The Sheriff’s Office will seek a charge against the man and woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for tampering, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
