A 73-year-old Festus-area man was shot and killed this morning (Feb. 15) at a home in the 1700 block of Burley Road south of Festus. His son, a 42-year-old man, allegedly shot him, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies were called to the home, which the two men shared, at about 8:35 a.m. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the report said.
The victim will not be identified until other family members are notified, and the suspect’s name will not be released unless charges are filed, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
As of this afternoon, a motive for the shooting was not known, according to the report.
