A 44-year-old Fenton man was arrested after he was found in a wooded area near an Imperial intersection where Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies recovered a stolen pickup. Surveillance footage from a nearby home allegedly showed the man driving the pickup before it was recovered, authorities reported.
On July 10, deputies were called to the intersection of Treebrook and Country Club drives because a 2003 Ford F-350 had been abandoned there. When deputies arrived, they discovered the pickup had been reported stolen by St. Louis County Police, the report said.
A police dog was brought in to search the area, and the dog led deputies to the man in a nearby wooded area. He was arrested without incident, and deputies allegedly found him with what appeared to be an illegal substance, according to the report.
The man was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants, the report said.
Spokesman Grant Bissell said the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for tampering and possession of an illegal substance.
