A 19-year-old Fenton man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a car that belongs to his friend’s father. The suspect reportedly was at the Denny’s restaurant, 1203 Drury Lane, in Arnold having dinner with his friend and friend’s father and suddenly grabbed the victim’s car keys off the table, ran outside and left in the car, Arnold Police reported.
The theft happened just before 10 p.m. Oct. 5. As of Nov. 1, the stolen car, a 2010 Chevrolet HHR, had not been recovered, Detective Lt. James Jones said.
The suspect, however, was arrested on Oct. 23, after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office picked up the man on the outstanding warrant for the theft. Arnold Police will seek felony stealing charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Jones said.
