A Fenton-area man was recently arrested on charges for allegedly threatening his roommate with a gun and firing a single shot after the other man left a room following a confrontation. No one was injured in the home, according to court documents.
Mitchell G. Garrison, 34, who lives in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton, was arrested Dec. 8. As of Dec. 10, he was being held on a $100,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents show.
Garrison has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a class E felony punishable by up to four years in prison; second-degree assault, a class D felony that carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison; and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, which are unclassified felonies and each are punishable by three to 15 years in prison, court records said.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Garrison and the other man were arguing Nov. 1 about a vehicle. Garrison had left the home during the argument, but when he returned, the other man told Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies that Garrison appeared to be “under the influence.”
Garrison allegedly pressed a gun against the other man’s throat and then pointed the gun at the man’s face. He allegedly threatened to shoot his roommate and said he had “nothing to lose,” the report said.
The other man said he ran out of the room, and he heard a shot being fired. He also said Garrison fled the home through an open window, according to the report.
Deputies recovered a single shell casing in the home, the report said.
