Michael J. Collier, 47, who lives in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton, has been accused of fleeing from a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper and committing numerous traffic violations on I-55 in Arnold. He also allegedly was found with a substance that tested positive as methamphetamine after being stopped, according to court documents.
Collier has been charged with felony aggravated fleeing, felony possession of a controlled substance, six misdemeanor traffic violations and an infraction for failing to display a license plate, court records said.
He was arrested on Feb. 12 and was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to jail records.
According to the probable-cause statement filed by the Highway Patrol, a trooper at about 8:20 p.m. July 18 was stationed on the right shoulder of the off ramp for southbound I-55 at Vogel Road when he was advised two people were riding motorcycles at a high rate of speed on the interstate north of Richardson Road.
The trooper on the ramp then saw a blue motorcycle that did not have a license plate coming up the ramp behind an SUV. Collier, who was riding the motorcycle, allegedly drove onto the shoulder to pass the SUV, made a U-turn at the exit and got onto northbound I-55, the report said.
The trooper followed Collier on the interstate, reporting Collier reached speeds of up to 93 mph. Collier was stopped at about 8:55 p.m. and was arrested, according to the report.
The trooper allegedly found Collier had a crystal-like substance with him and that Collier’s driver’s license was expired, the report said.
The Highway Patrol tested the substance and reported it tested positive as meth, according to the report.
