A house in the 900 block of Winter Lake Drive in unincorporated Fenton was seriously damaged by a fire last weekend. A man and woman were in the house when the fire started and got out uninjured, said Assistant Chief Chris Harris of the Saline Valley Fire Protection District.

He said the district got a call about the fire at 9:37 p.m. March 12.

“There was a fire on the deck and it extended into the attic space,” Harris said. “It took about an hour to get under control.

“There was significant damage to the back of the house and the roof. It has to be repaired before (the occupants) can go back to it. They are staying with family.”

Harris said Tuesday, March 14, that the cause of the fire had not been determined.

“The cause is under investigation, but there’s nothing suspicious,” he said.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 11:52 p.m.

The High Ridge and Fenton fire protection districts helped with the call, and the Rock Township Ambulance District responded to the scene.
