Eureka Police are seeking a 48-year-old Colorado Springs, Colo., woman suspected of stealing $970 from the Burger King restaurant, 235 W. Fifth St., after quitting the day before. A white 2004 Ford Econoline van the woman drives allegedly was seen outside the restaurant the morning the burglary was reported, Eureka Police said.
Police were called at about 5:30 a.m. March 5 when employees discovered $800 was missing from an unlocked safe and $170 was missing from cash registers. A manager told investigators the restaurant’s doors were locked when he arrived at about 5:15 a.m. and there were no signs that someone forced their way into the building, the report said.
The manager also told police the Colorado Springs woman had quit after he had an altercation with her on March 4. He said the woman still had keys to the restaurant, according to the report.
Surveillance video allegedly showed the van pull into the Burger King parking lot at about 1:10 a.m. March 5. It also showed someone inside the building. That person left the building at about 1:16 a.m., and then the van could be seen driving away from the restaurant, the report said.
As of March 13, none of the money had been recovered, and the woman had not been located, Lt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the woman or the van to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
