A 54-year-old Eureka woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after a Eureka Police officer observed her drive into the backyard of a home on Meramec Boulevard, Capt. David Wilson reported.
At 1:40 a.m. April 21, officers saw a 2009 Honda Accord traveling north on Meramec Boulevard attempt to turn right onto Walden Drive. However, the car went off the road and into a yard, a report said.
The woman was attempting to back out of the yard and onto the road when the officer stopped her. An officer, who smelled a strong odor of alcohol, reached into the car and shut off the engine as the woman allegedly attempted to drive away, according to the report.
The driver refused to take a field sobriety test, and she was arrested and transported to the Police Station. She allegedly cursed at the officers while she was arrested, the report said.
She was booked and released to a sober driver with a citation to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for suspicion of DWI, Wilson said.
