A 55-year-old Eureka woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after she allegedly almost hit a pedestrian walking in a crosswalk and allegedly registered more than twice the legal limit for blood-alcohol content, Eureka Police reported.
The arrest happened at 6:24 p.m. Sept. 8.
An officer saw a 2014 Ford Escape traveling north on Meramec Boulevard when it failed to stop for a pedestrian. The SUV was stopped on Meramec Boulevard near Muir Street, and the driver appeared to be intoxicated, the report said.
The woman allegedly told the officer she was coming home from Eureka Days and that she’d had a couple of drinks. After she allegedly failed a field sobriety test, the woman registered a 0.214 percent blood-alcohol content, the report said. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
She was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where she was released when she was sober, according to the report.
Eureka Police will seek charges for DWI and failure to yield to a pedestrian through Eureka Municipal Court, Capt. David Wilson said.
