A 50-year-old Eureka woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after another driver allegedly saw her sleeping in a car at the intersection of North Central Avenue and West Fifth Street, Eureka Police reported.

The other driver called police at about 9:20 p.m. Sept. 1 to report a woman who was driving a 2022 Kia K5. The driver and the woman drove to the Exit 11 Coffee Drive-Thru, 527 N. Central Ave., and the woman was sitting in the other person’s car when police arrived, the report said.

The woman allegedly told officers she had three or four alcoholic beverages and referred to herself as a “hot mess” numerous times. She also said she was driving the Kia that was seen in surveillance video pulling into the coffee business, according to the report.

The woman allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. She was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked, the reports said.

At the Police Station, the woman allegedly registered a 0.299 percent blood-alcohol content, according to the report. In Missouri, 0.08 percent is the legal limit.

She was released to a sober driver with a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI, Lt. Brett Grittini said.
