A 17-year-old Eureka woman was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident on West Main Street. The woman registered a .000 percent blood-alcohol content, but investigators believe she may have been under the influence of narcotics, Eureka Police reported.

An officer was called at about 4:05 a.m. May 14 to West Main Street near Ashton Way Circle by an off-duty St. Louis County Police officer following the accident. The St. Louis County Police officer told the Eureka Police officer that the 2010 GMC Terrain was all over the road and at times went into the grass, the report said.

The officer learned the woman hit a mailbox with the SUV, according to the report.

The woman allegedly failed field sobriety tests, and she was arrested for suspicion of DWI. The woman was not injured, the report said.

She was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released to a sober driver, according to the report.

The woman was issued summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI and leaving the scene of an accident, Lt. Michael Tapp said.
