Eureka Police are investigating how the drive thru window was shattered at the former Burger King restaurant, 235 W. Fifth St. The estimated cost to repair the window is $300, police reported.
The restaurant’s district manager, a 45-year-old St. Louis woman, called police at about 4:40 p.m. Aug 21 when she discovered the broken window. She said when she arrived at the building, the back door was unlocked, but nothing was stolen from the former restaurant, the report said.
The district manager said she was last at the building on Aug. 7. Eureka Police reported officers found the building’s back door open several times between Aug. 7-21 and the business had been vacant each time.
On Aug. 22, a Eureka Police officer reported the front door to the building was open. No one was inside the building again, and nothing in the building appeared to be moved.
As of Sept. 9, no suspects had been identified, Capt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about how the window was broken to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
