Eureka Police are investigating thefts from three vehicles parked outside homes on Forest Hills Drive and Williams Drive. In all, the stolen items were valued at more than $1,000, Capt. David Wilson said.
The thefts from vehicles in the 200 and 300 blocks of Forest Hills Drive occurred between 8 p.m. Dec. 28 and 8 a.m. Dec. 29, and the theft in the 500 block of Williams Drive occurred between 2-9:54 a.m. Dec. 29. The two streets intersect, the report said.
Police initially were called to a home in the 200 block of Forest Hills Drive, where a 2018 Honda Accord, a 2002 Honda Accord and a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe had been rummaged through. All three vehicles had been left unlocked, according to the report.
A Louis Vuitton purse worth an estimated $800 and a Fossil wallet worth an estimated $100 were taken from the 2002 Accord, which belongs to a 23-year-old Eureka woman. Change was taken from the Tahoe, which a 45-year-old Eureka man owns. A 40-year-old Eureka woman, who owns the 2018 Accord, told police nothing was missing from her car, the report said.
Officers also got a report about a theft from a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado parked in the 300 block of Forest Hills Drive. The victim, a 45-year-old Eureka man, said a brake module, which was valued at $130, was stolen, according to the report.
While canvassing the area, officers found a 2016 Nissan Ultima parked outside a home in the 500 block of Williams Drive that appeared to have been broken into. A 40-year-old Eureka man who owns the car said a 9mm FNS magazine and 17 rounds ammunition loaded in it were missing. The magazine was valued at $44, the report said.
As of Jan. 3, none of the missing items had been recovered and there were no suspects, Wilson said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
