The Taco Bell restaurant, 83 Hilltop Village Center Drive, was recently evacuated after someone called and claimed there was a bomb in the building. Authorities searched the building for about an hour, but no evidence of a bomb were found, Eureka Police reported.
Officers were called to the restaurant at about 8:55 p.m. Aug. 1. The manager said a man had called and said, “You all have to go look for a bomb,” before hanging up, the report said.
The manager, a 42-year-old Eureka woman, said employees evacuated the customers from the restaurant. The number used to call the restaurant was local, but investigators were unable to contact anyone when trying to call the number, according to the report.
The restaurant reopened at about 10 p.m. after officers searched the building, the report said.
As of Aug. 12, no suspects had been identified, Capt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with knowledge about the bomb threat to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
