Eureka Police are investigating the theft of two iPhones that had been delivered to a home in the 5000 block of Eagle Wing Court. It was the latest in a string of similar thefts of cell phones that had been ordered through Sprint and delivered by UPS, police reported.
The latest theft was reported at 6:51 p.m. April 13. Eureka Police already were investigating the theft of iPhones at two other homes, one on March 13 and the other on March 19, Capt. David Wilson said.
In all the thefts, it looked like the phones were delivered and then someone cut open the end of the boxes they were delivered in and resealed the boxes, Wilson said.
In the latest theft, the victim told police he had ordered an iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 11 Pro, but when he opened the delivery box, the phones were not inside. The phones were valued at $1,100 each, according to the report.
As of April 8, none of the stolen phones had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Wilson said.
He said Eureka Police are in contact with UPS security and Sprint about the incidents. Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
