Eureka Police are investigating damage done to the sprinkler system at Legion Park, 333 Bald Hill Road. City employees said the ballfields’ system were damaged twice in a two-week period, police reported.

An officer was called at about 1:15 p.m. June 23 to the park when a city employee saw the lock was broken on the sprinkler system and wires were cut on the west fields. The employee said the damage occurred between June 20-23, the report said.

The employee said this was the second time the system had been damaged in the last two weeks and the cost to repair the damage was approximately $500 both times, according to the report.

As of Tuesday, June 24, no suspects had been identified, Chief Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the damage to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
