Eureka Police arrested a 55-year-old Washington, Mo., man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after allegedly seeing the SUV the man was driving cross the center line of West Fifth Street multiple times, police reported.
At about 9:20 p.m. March 16, an officer saw the man drive a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe onto West Fifth Street from the parking lot of the White Castle restaurant. The office stopped the SUV after seeing the driver struggle to stay in the lane on westbound West Fifth Street, the report said.
The SUV stopped near the America’s Best Inn, 1725 W. Fifth St. The man allegedly appeared to be intoxicated and told the officer he drank a couple of beers, according to the report.
The man failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and it was discovered he had been arrested at least once for suspicion of DWI, the report said.
The man was released to a sober driver with a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI and improper lane use, Capt. Michael Werges said.
