Eureka Police arrested a 40-year-old Union man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after the man allegedly had a .159 percent blood-alcohol content, police reported. In Missouri, the legal limit is .08 percent.

An officer at about 3:55 a.m. June 29 saw the man driving a 2006 Honda Element west on West Fifth Street. The man was speeding up and slowing down and couldn’t keep the SUV in a single lane, the report said.

The man allegedly turned into the incorrect lane when making a left onto Six Flags Road. The officer stopped the SUV after the man turned onto Six Flags Road, according to the report.

The man allegedly told the officer that had two or three drinks before driving. He then failed field sobriety tests, the report said.

The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released to a sobor driver, according to the report.

The man was issued summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI and improper lane use, Lt. Michael Tapp said.
