Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police arrested a 43-year-old Lubbock, Texas, man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he allegedly admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana while driving. Police were called by someone who knew the man who said he was driving while intoxicated, authorities reported.

Officers were called at about 9:10 p.m. March 24 to the MotoMart gas station, 5695 Fox Creek Road. They were told the man was driving a red 2016 Honda Civic, the report said.

Officers saw the Civic leave the gas station and turn east onto Fox Creek Road. The officers stopped the car on West Fifth Street, according to the report.

The man reportedly appeared to be impaired, and officers smelled alcohol and marijuana. The man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested, the report said.

The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released with a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI, Capt. Michael Werges said.
