A 33-year-old Eureka man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after Eureka Police officers checked on the man while he was changing a tire on North Central Avenue. The front left tire was off the car, and the bumper appeared to have fallen off before police arrived, authorities reported.
The man was spotted at about 4:15 a.m. Jan. 14 near the southbound lane of the street next to a 2019 Toyota Corolla that appeared to have struck something. However, there were no reports of the car being involved in an accident.
An officer reported seeing an open bottle of tequila and an open bottle of wine in the car. The man allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested, the report said.
The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and allegedly registered a .114 percent blood-alcohol content, according to the report. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
The man was released to a sober driver and issued a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for DWI, Capt. Michael Werges said.
