A 45-year-old Eureka man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he was allegedly found asleep in an SUV in an intersection. He allegedly registered a .126 percent blood-alcohol content, Eureka Police reported.
In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
An off-duty Eureka Police officer called police at about 12:35 p.m. May 27 after he allegedly saw the man sleeping in a 2017 Acura MDX. The SUV was in the intersection of South Central Avenue and West Main Street, the report said.
An officer reached through the open driver’s side window to put the SUV into park, and he shut off the engine. The officer then woke up the man, according to the report.
The man allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released to a sober driver, the report said.
The man was issued a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI, Capt. Michael Werges said.
