A 51-year-old Eureka man was arrested for suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The man was arrested after he allegedly was found slumped behind the steering wheel of a car stopped on the eastbound I-44 exit ramp that leads to Six Flags Road, Eureka Police reported.
The incident happened at about 6:40 p.m. Oct. 12, when an officer found the man in a 2017 Porsche hatchback stopped in the lane. The car was running, but the man’s foot was on the brake, the report said.
The officer had to wake up the man, who appeared intoxicated. The driver allegedly failed field sobriety tests, according to the report.
He was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released to a sober driver. He also was given a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, Lt. Michael Werges said.
