A 53-year-old Eureka man was arrested in Eureka for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after an officer allegedly saw him swerving on Hwy. 109 and crossing the center line. The man allegedly registered twice the legal limit for blood-alcohol level, Eureka Police reported.
At about 1:20 a.m. March 17, the officer stopped the 2019 Kia Optima the man was driving after he reportedly crossed the center line. The officer allegedly smelled alcohol on the man’s breath, and the man failed field sobriety tests, according to the report.
The man was taken to the Police Station, where he allegedly registered a .194 percent blood-alcohol content, the report said. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
The man was released to a sober driver with summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for DWI and improper lane use, Lt. Michael Werges said.
