Eureka Police arrested a 33-year-old Ellisville man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he allegedly made two right turns without signaling and drove into oncoming traffic on Old Towne Drive. The man had a previous conviction for DWI, Eureka Police reported.

At 12:02 a.m. July 29, a Eureka Police officer reportedly saw the man, who was driving a 2021 Toyota Highlander, turn onto Central Avenue from the Circle K gas station, 100 Old Towne Drive, without using a turn signal. The man then turned right onto Old Towne Drive, again without using a turn signal, into oncoming traffic, the report said.

The officer turned on his police cruiser lights, and the driver pulled back into the gas station parking lot. The man appeared intoxicated, and he allegedly refused to perform field sobriety tests, according to the report.

The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released to a sober driver, the report said.

Eureka Police will seek a felony DWI charge against him through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Capt. Michael Werges said. The man was given summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for two charges of turning while failing to signal.
