A dryer that caught fire was quickly extinguished at a home in the 800 block of Oak Mill Lane in Imperial.

The fire was contained to the laundry room and only destroyed the dryer, Rock Community Fire Protection District spokeswoman Alyson Rotter said.

Rock Fire was called at 11:57 a.m. Nov. 24 by a man who lives at the house, and the first firetruck arrived at 12:01 p.m. The fire was under control at 12:10 p.m., and the scene was cleared at 12:59 p.m., Rotter said.

She said the dryer was in a laundry room that was in the garage of the house, and the fire did not spread into the garage or home. She also said there was minor damage in the laundry room.

Rotter said it was not known how the fire started in the dryer, or how the man was alerted to the fire. No one was injured.
