A 34-year-old Dittmer woman was arrested after she allegedly was seen riding a stolen moped near the intersection of Morse Mill Road and Jones Creek Road in Dittmer. She was stopped because the deputies recognized her and knew her driver’s license was revoked, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The deputy stopped the woman on the 2009 moped at about 4:50 p.m. Aug. 1. The moped, a low-powered motorbike, was reported stolen on Feb. 11 in Richmond Heights, the report said.
The woman was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where she was booked and released pending application for warrants. The Sheriff’s Office will seek a charge against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree tampering, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
